Cos­tume design­er Mayes Rubio has an Acad­e­my Award nom­i­na­tion for her work on “JoJo Rab­bit,” which has already won her the prize for Excel­lence in Peri­od Film from the Cos­tume Design­ers Guild. It’s quite an accom­plish­ment for the Mex­i­can immi­grant who came to L.A. at the age of 20 and stud­ied at L.A. Trade Tech Col­lege. The Frame con­trib­u­tor Andrea Gutier­rez spent time with Rubeo at one of the design­er’s favorite cos­tume hous­es in Los Angeles.
