Editor and publisher Rosalie Morales Kearns of Shade Mountain Press hired me as the bilingual (English and Spanish) proofreader for Vanessa Garcia’s acclaimed novel, White Light.
Los Angeles Review of Books
I was involved with the Los Angeles Review of Books as early as the fall of 2010, before its launch, as an Editorial Assistant.
In November 2012, I came on as a Copy Editor, and the next month I was put in charge as Copy Desk Chief. I remained in that role until April 2014.
As Copy Desk Chief, in addition to daily copyediting, fact checking, and proofreading of digital and print properties, I:
- Revised and expanded the house style guide
- Created a tracking system that resolved previous inefficiencies
- Built a robust and respected team of remote copy editors
